DESCRIPTION:The webinar will be held on Friday 3rd of July from 10:30-11:45 CET, exploring the dynamics and impacts of information suppression. The webinar will unpack how information suppression operates in practice, from direct censorship and online harassment to the more subtle forms of selfcensorship such pressures generate. By shedding light on these mechanisms, the webinar aims to provide a clearer understanding of how information environments can be shaped, constrained, and influenced.\nThe discussion will also examine why information suppression is not only a challenge for information flows, but a broader threat to fundamental rights, democratic participation, and social cohesion. Particular attention will be paid to its impact on diaspora communities, whose engagement in public life can be disproportionately affected by transnational pressures. The webinar will provide a space to reflect on these risks and their implications for resilient and inclusive democratic systems.\nDrawing on evidence from the RESONANT project, it will be illustrated how authoritarian influence extends across borders and manifests within the European Union.
